I have read of cases where if there are more than 70 programs in the list they will disapear from view. Go to c:\Users\<your username>\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and either delete some or arrange some of them into folders. Appdata is a hidden folder.
